Two of the Top 2018 Wines from Washington State
Corliss Estate 2018
The team at Corliss have done it again.
We have long been fans of the goings on at Corliss. They consistently produce wines that are, mysteriously, both polished, elegant and approachable; while so deftly constructed and balanced that they can age for years if you can have the patience.
As a side note, if you find yourself visiting the area, their tasting room is amazing.
Both of these wines have been highly praised, and while the wine is never available in large amounts, this year’s supply is especially limited. If you attempt to order these wines and they are sold out. Please send me an email with the desired amount, and I will see if I can talk them out of a few more bottles.
Corliss Red Columbia Valley Washington, 2018, 750
JB97 “It’s another thrilling wine offering pure cassis and ripe cherry fruits, notes of spring flowers, tobacco, and damp earth, medium to full body, ripe, building tannins, and flawless balance. Brilliant any way you look at it, it will benefit from 3-4 years (at least) of bottle age and should keep for two decades. It’s up with the crème de la crème of the vintage – and the state.”
Corliss Cabernet Sauvignon Columbia Valley Washington, 2018, 750
JD97 “The 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) sports a vibrant purple color to go with a rich, full-bodied, powerful, and well-oaked Cabernet that has beautiful cassis and darker currant fruit, notes of tobacco, espresso, graphite, and crushed stone, beautiful overall balance, building tannins, and a great finish. The purity here is stunning, it has impeccable balance, and it’s just a brilliant Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon that will keep for 25+ years. Bravo.”
