Celebration Starts: Meet the New Star of Champagne

I am thrilled to offer a new Champagne to kick off the Holiday Season. Champagne Dremont Marroy is a welcome new presence in the United States. When I initially tasted and ordered them several months ago, I was the only person offering them in the US. To the best of my knowledge, that appears to hold. They are the most exciting new Champagnes I have tasted in a while. With their relatively small production and this initial exploration of the U.S. market, the available quantities are very small.

The wines started selling as soon as I added them to the website. People returning from France, after tasting them there, were thirsty for more and thrilled that I had them available in the U.S.

These wines are very inexpensive by the standards of great quality Champagne. Do not let the low price fool you. They are quite under-priced vs their quality. That will not last. Just as I used to buy cases of Cedric Bouchard and sold them for $55 a bottle, these prices will rise along with difficulty of acquisition as word gets out. Buy as much as you can reasonably, and you will not regret it. You can look back one day and explain how you once purchased these difficult to find Ninety plus dollar bottles in the fifties.

Champagne Dremont Marroy La Liere Extra Brut

Fine golden robe of tiny delicate bubbles.
Lifted floral and chalk components, dark citrus, plum skin, ginger, ripe white peach, almond paste and vanilla bean. Bright focused and racy attack with a softer, broader, and more powerful mid, fine creamy effervescence carries through to the end with a long and balanced finish. Tasted 8/24

47 % Chardonnay & 53% Pinot Noir

Harvest 2019 70 % and reserve wine 30 %

Wine Making:
An extended period of aging on the fine lies after alcoholic fermentation, providing body and
smoothness. The micro-oxygenation technique is used with oak barrels from 220L to 600L to give the wine a lovely patina, developing a subtle combination of complex but delicate aromas. The initial intensity and freshness of the terroir is preserved by there being no malolactic fermentation process. A minimum 33-month aging period, during which bottles are horizontally stacked, makes for a rich aroma and a lovely lingering taste. This cuvée, with no added sweetness from dosage, appeals to lovers of succulent wine with vibrant flavors.

Wine Making
The vinification and aging on fine lees take place at 50% in wooden barrels (ranging from 220L to 600L) for a period of 10 months after alcoholic fermentation, imparting body and
texture to the wine. In addition to this, complex aromas result from micro-oxygenation. A minimum 4 years aging period, during which bottles are horizontally stacked, makes for a rich aroma and a lovely lingering taste. This Champagne with no added sweetness from dosage, preserve the initial intensity and freshness of the alluvial-limestone terroir.
