Elio Perrone Moscato d’ Asti “Sourgal” 2020

Brilliant, and fresh with a touch of sweetness and sparkle this is a wine to know.
Moscato has been popularized over the last few years and you can find it just about anywhere.
But finding Moscato and finding a top Moscato are very different goals.

With beautiful lifted floral components, peach, orange zest, and a touch of honey and baking spice,
this wine is hilariously inexpensive for how well it drinks.

Pair with roast chicken (the more savory the better), Cheese, duck, smoked meats, spicy Asian cuisine (especially Thai and Szechuan) the spicier the better, dessert breads and custard style desserts (Creme Brulee oh my.)

Chateau de Rouanne Vinsobres 2018

This new project by Louis Barruol of Château de Saint Cosme in Gigondas is another value over achiever from Southern Rhone.

A Blend of 50% Grenache, 40% Syrah, and 10% Mourvedre, this wine is is accessible and juicy while still maintaining balance with its savory side.
With notes of blackberry, raspberry, violet, wet earth, cedar incense, bay leaf, and anise.

Pair with cheese, cured meats, red meats especially grilled and with extra emphasis on Lamb.

Bricco Ernesto di Vezza Renato Vino Rosso 2019

This is a very rare small production wine from Roero.

A very perfumed and aromatic style of Nebbiolo; cherry, dried orange peel, herbs, spice box, cherry. rose petals, licorice, vanilla and tobacco. Bright driving acidity up front and a long linear finish frame the stunning and quiet beauty that is this wine, fine dusty tannins round out the structure and while the wine drinks very well now, it could go several years in the cellar too.
If you like to sit and listen closely to what your wine is whispering this will be a heady experience for you.

Pair with beef, duck, game, cheese or white truffles.

I See Champagne, It’s Everywhere.

We love our Champagne year around but this is the season when we see a worldwide uptick in the enjoyment of this delicious, exuberant, and effortlessly paired wine.
This time of year is also when we see some of the rarest wines released (hint, hint).
Champagne generally is getting rare these days and seems to be a hard hit segment these past two years. Large producers that make millions of bottles a year that you find on every shelf, in every restaurant, even they are relatively unavailable in the current environment. It is best to grab them while you can.
